The Chief Education Officer Dr Marcel Hutson, today delivered the feature address of the first-ever Career Fair hosted by the Guyana Association of Home Economists attended by over 245 secondary school students and teachers.
Dr Hutson cited the importance of Technical and Vocational Education to the development of the wellbeing of students and by extension the nation. In his address, he was keen to note that the Ministry of Education will continue to invest heavily in the field of study.
He cited the plans to modernise the sector through training, the purchasing of equipment and the appointment of key personnel.
According to him, the sector will enjoy the unwavering support and commitment of the Ministry of Education to educate and empower teachers and students to function effectively in whatever career they may choose. Dr Hutson urged participants to make full use of the information and guidance given since TVET offers a powerful alternative to social mobility. He commended the organisers for the vision while advising them to continue to make the sector and Guyana proud.
