The Department of Education – Region Five held an outreach yesterday in the Moraikobai community. A sensitization session was held with staff at the Health Centre about supporting children with Special Education Needs and the importance of supporting teen mothers who would attend the clinic.

Discussions were also held with parents in the community and students while professional development sessions were done with teachers.. The Education Officers also visited the homes of those pupils who were absent from secondary school.

Education Officer attached to the Special Education Needs Unit, Ms Akeshia Benjamin, Senior Schools Welfare Officer, Ms. Gloria Davidson James, Literacy Officer Ms Adel white, System Development Officer, Mr. Carl Merai and Child Protection Officer Mr. Lauristan Choy were all a part of the team that conducted the outreach which was coordinated by Ms Keane Adams, Education Officer acting in the capacity of Regional Education Officer.
