The United Nations Refugee Agency pays courtesy call on the Minister of Education, Honourable Priya Manickchand

The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNCHR) on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Education, Honourable Priya Manickchand at her Brickdam office.

Deputy Chief Education Officer (AHED), Mr. Marti DeSouza, Deputy Chief Education Officer (Development), Mrs. Volika Jaikishun, Chief Planning Officer, Mrs. Nicola Johnson and Coordinator of the Risk Management and Migrant Support Section (RM&MSS), Rampattie Prashad-Bisnauth also formed the Ministry's delegation at Monday’s meeting.

The UNCHR team briefed Minister Manickchand on their mission here, including plans to visit region one to offer their service in the community there.

The team also conveyed their appreciation of Guyana’s longstanding commitments to its human rights obligations as well as the Ministry of Education’s active role in ensuring the education of refugee and migrant children.
