These teachers are all elated that very soon, the community of Karrau in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) will have its very own secondary school.

This new facility, along with a teachers' living quarters, is part of a larger government effort to expand access to secondary education in the hinterland regions.

When completed, the school is expected to serve students from Karrau and neighboring communities, eliminating the need for them to travel long distances to Bartica for secondary education.

Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education and Hon. Pauline Sukhai, Minister Within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development recently visited this, and several other ongoing school projects in the region.
