Starting September 2026, the University of Guyana's Bachelor of Science in Accountancy programme will be formally accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

An MoU signed today at the Education Lecture Theatre solidifies the partnership between UG and the global accounting body.

Hon. Sonia Parag, Minister of Education, delivered the feature address, noting that a country transforming as fast as Guyana needs high-quality qualifications that can keep pace. Education is the absolute core of national development. The Minister even joked that she arrived fully prepared to twist arms to guarantee that September launch date, only to find stakeholders had already beaten her to it.

Looking ahead, the collaboration will also focus on developing a dual-award programme so students can graduate with both their UG degree and an ACCA Advanced Diploma.
